We have a 3850 and a bunch of 2960s in our shop. Power here in Africa is terrible. Power is so bad it killed the battery on our big APC UPS. While waiting for the UPS battery to be replaced, our server room has been subject to many transient power sags every day for a few weeks. After awhile, ports on our 3850 would randomly stop working. The team was constantly rebooting equipment. I've been worried that we've had hardware damage to ASICs and/or RAM.
I've been trying to run GOLD diagnostics on my 3850 to check the hardware. The diags run when requested, but most of the tests are skipped. Here's what I've been entering:
diagnostic ondemand iterations 2
diagnostic ondemand action-on-failure continue
diagnostic start switch 1 test all
The test runs, the switch restarts. I then run show diagnostic result switch 1 detail. Here are my results:
2) DiagThermalTest - Error code 0 (DIAG_SUCCESS)
3) DiagFanTest - Error code 0 (DIAG_SUCCESS)
5) DiagScratchRegisterTest - Error code 0 (DIAG_SUCCESS)
ALL other tests are skipped (error code 3).
Am I not running the right commands? I tried several times, and then changed my command to
diagnostic start switch 1 test DiagMemoryTest
That gave me the exact same result. What am I doing wrong?
