Hello v4meet999,

the answer is negative:   a 1Gbps device cannot be connected to a 10 Gbps port, because the latter cannot slow down to 1Gbps.

In some specific cases like for Cisco 4900M or other switches a twingig converter can be installed in a 10GE port and one 1SFP optic can be installed  into the twingig converter.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Some of the newer 10g ports are SFP+, which often means they will support gig or 10g depending on SPF.

I have 3750-E switch and 2 ten gigabit ethernet ports for uplink. I want to connect another 3750-E switch with 1 gb fiber link.

For a 3750-E, you may use the TwinGig, as described by Giuseppe.

See: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps7077/product_data_sheet0900aecd805bbee3_ps7078_Products_Data_Sheet.html
