Cat 3750 - sh mls qos interface stat question

Dear all,

I have a policy map for a Tandberg video confrencing unit applied to an interface on a 3750 switch:

policy-map VIDEO

     class VIDEO-CONF

     set dscp af41

     police 784000 64000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit

When I run the 'sh mls qos interface stats' command I can see I'm getting some OutofProfile packets. My question is, to qualify as an OutofProfile packet does the CIR (784k) + the burst (64k) have to exceed or does just the CIR have to exceed to increment the counter?

Thanks in advance,

Col

Colin,

These counters are for policers that used to traffic
based on a CIR.  So, in profile would be the number of packet that match
the policer and are under the CIR.

Amit

Increasing CIR would be better.

Amit,

Thank you for replying so quickly and thanks for the answer!

To open the question a little further. If the traffic contiuned to be out of policy would it be better to increase the CIR or increase the bc. I think the easier thing would be to increase the CIR but as this is video and bursty in it's nature I want to edge towards a higher bc value. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Col
