Hello Team
We have seen strange problem in our network related to stack power for cisco WS-C3750X-48P Switch. The network is running stack of 4 switches (cisco WS-C3750X-48P) with software version15.0 (1) SE2.Last week one switch went faulty. We did RMA for this switch and got the replacement.
When we added the newly received switch in existing stack (switch 3 was faulty), the data stack came up but the power stack was not coming up and the output of show stack power was showing standalone instead of ring. We did multiple tests but the power stack was not coming up. Concluding the stack power ports for the new switch are faulty, we got 1 more replacement but found same result...
During this troubleshooting we found that the part code for the newly received switches were WS-C3750X-48P-V4 while the switches in existing stack were WS-C3750X-48P-V2...Just to check the same further we did 1 more stack of the 2 newly received WS-C3750X-48P-V4 switches and found that both data & power stack coming up properly and it made clear that there was nothing wrong with the stack power ports of newly received switches. When we connected back one of the switch to the existing stack of WS-C3750X-48P-V2, we have seen the original problem of power stack not coming up.
It looks like when these different version switches are connected in stack, though the data stack is coming up, there is some issue with the power stack due this version mismatch/compatibility. I am not getting any cisco documentation for the same. Can anyone pass some documentation related to this?
Regards
Sameer

Hi
Thanks for the reply..
Unfortunately this is not talking about the problem of version mismatch/compatibility...The version2 switches are working fine in a stack as well as the version 4 switches are working fine in power stack..we are facing an issue when version4 switch is added to version 2 switch stack...
In this case the data stack is coming up but have issue with power stack and the ring is not coming up..
