Cat:4510R slave-supervisor in unknown

Hi,

I have replaced two new supervisors in Cat:4510R layer 3 switch. The problem is that, after few times, the slave supervisor is unknown showing in

sh module command. Only one active supervisor is in working. After restarting or re-inserting the slave module, sometime it start working but after few time it is unknown. I have also upgraded the IOS.

Any suggestions/

Hi Aman,

I guess the standby supervisor is going into rommon mode, with the standby in unknown state can you console into the standby supervisor and see whether it is in rommon?

If the supervisor is in rommon,

Issue "set" command and see what is the boot variable set in rommon.

In order to clear the bootvariable, type "BOOT=" in rommon prompt

In order to set the boot statement, "BOOT=bootflash:

To change the config register in rommon, confreg

Hi Somu,

Thank you for your reply, actually when this slavesupervisor is in unknown state then, it is unable to access. It may be got hang. There is no display on console as well.

As i noticed, I found the below error message on console:
