Cat 6500

Hi Guys,

Hopefully we are getting our first 6500. At this point the major features we want are:

1) Layer 3 switching with OSPF

2) SLB

So we got the following component list from our supplier:

Catalyst 6500 Enhanced 9-slot chassis,15RU,no PS,no Fan Tray

Cisco CAT6000-SUP32 IOS IP BASE (MODULAR)

Catalyst 6500 Supervisor 32 with 8 GE uplinks and PFC3B

Catalyst 6500 48-port 10/100/1000 w/Jumbo Frame, RJ-45

Catalyst 6509-E Chassis Fan Tray

Catalyst 6500 3000W AC power supply (spare)

Is this list what we want to at the least support the requirements?

The configurations looks fine except for the IOS.

you cannot run OSPF on an IP base image. you would require an IP services image.

you can choose Cisco CAT6000-SUP32 IOS IP SERVICES -- S323IS-12218SXF
