why not consider SSO?

You can upgrade to 12.2(25)EWA to have SSO and get <30s switchovers or 12.2(31)SGA code to support SSO with NSF, to have possible >5s switchovers. Here is the link for 12.2SGA SSO with NSF:

Hi Ali,
I would suggest to use SSO with NFS between the supervisor engines. SSO/NSF give you sub-milisecond fail-over between the sup's for both L2/L3 failover though we claim it around 0-3 seconds which depends on the traffic flow. My self has tested same with 900Mbps traffic and the failover time was arnd 300 milisecond.
You need atleaset 12.2.31SG for the same.
