Catalyst 3750 Changing port from trunk to access

blait
Level 1
Level 1

Hi.  On my 3750, I had a port that was configured as a trunk.  I changed the configuration of the port to this:

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/22
switchport access vlan 172
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 100
switchport port-security maximum 3
mls qos trust cos
spanning-tree portfast
end

Now, when I do a sh vlan, port G1/0/22 does not appear in any vlan, and the phone connected to the port cannot contact the DHCP server in vlan 172.

Switch1#sh vlan

sometimes those ports get stuck.  it must be shut before changing configs.  shut it down, remove all config, add config, no shut.

Or shut it down, default port to its original config with default interface GigabitEthernet1/0/22, then add your config and do no shut

Martin,

I did as you requested but the port still does not appear in sh vlan.

is the port shows up in show interface trunk ?

if you can do TDR cable test on that port. I would use another port since I think 1/0/22 is possibly bad port; it happens on those old switches after awhile;

Martin,

No, it doesn't show up in sh int trunk.

Martin,

Sorry, it took me a while to figure out how to do this.

Switch1#test cable-diagnostics tdr int g1/0/22
TDR test started on interface Gi1/0/22
A TDR test can take a few seconds to run on an interface
Use 'show cable-diagnostics tdr' to read the TDR results.

Switch1#show cable-diagnostics tdr int g1/0/22
TDR test last run on: October 01 17:30:10
