I have a problem with a new Catalyst 4506E with SUP8E
I entered an incorrect config-register when I disabled password recovery, should be 0x2102, I entered 0x2302
Rebooted the switch and it's now in a infinite booting loop with no option to enter ROMMON mode to fix the incorrect config-register.
I tried logging a case with Cisco, but unfortunately Cisco can't help me because the new switch is not under a smartnet contract yet.
We are busy adding the new equipment to our existing smartnet contract, of which I provided proof to Cisco, but still I am not receiving any assistance
Here is the results of the boot :

Does anybody have the technical document that tells me how to resolve the issue ?
I have been told that it can be resolved with jumper settings, but I don't find the information on the internet
Assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Neil,
May be try this:-
Set your laptop serial port to 1200,8,N,1
Connect to supy console port
Repower the switch
HOLD the "SPACE BAR" down for say 15 Secs
Disconnect your laptop
Reconfigure the serial back to 9600,8,N,1
Reconnect to console the "Carraige Return"
Hopefully you are now in ROMMON
rommon1>confreg 0x2102
rommon2>reset
Should now boot as normal
Regards
Alex

Thank you,
Tried your advice now but that doesn't work

Use "Fn + Break" almost immediately after bootup process starts
- You will reach to " rommon " prompt.
- At the rommon prompt, use confreg 0x2102 to correct boot variable.
- reset
If Fn + Break does not work, you might attempt any of the break sequences
according to the program you are using to manage the switch, see the link

Register 0x2302 disables rommon since that is how password recovery disable works on this box. So if your bootstatement points to file which does not exist, you have to either replace bootflash memory for the one which contains file to which boot statement points or you have to replace box.
