I have a Cisco Catalyst 9300 and cannot access the GUI. The documentation says to connect it to a DHCP server so it can acquire an IP Address, but in the same sections tells you to navigate to 192.168.1.1 - I have connected it to a DHCP server and it will NOT acquire an address. My computer gets a DHCP address, but the switch does not. And I've tried connecting directly to the switch directly, going into the same range as 192.168.1.1 - and still cannot ping or discover it. Via terminal connection, I receive errors when using LISTED commands such as "show ip" and others. I have verified that this is switch #1, it is passing traffic because I can connect to the DHCP Server (router) that is also connected to it, but cannot get GUI access.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi aragone@mccannsystems.com ,
Check this:
Step 1 | Make sure that no devices are connected to the switch |
Step 2 | Connect one end of an ethernet cable to one of the uplink (non-management) ports on the active supervisor and the other end of the ethernet cable to the host (PC). |
Step 3 | Set up your PC as a DHCP client, to obtain the IP address of the switch automatically. It may take up to three mins. You must complete the Day0 setup through the WebUI before using the device terminal. |
Step 4 | Launch a Web browser on the PC and enter the device IP address (https://192.168.1.1) in the address bar. |
From what you see, it is the switch that will serve as DHCP server and give your IP address.
I leave the full link for more detail:

The PC doesnt not acquire an IP address when connected to an uplink port of the switch. It is not a DHCP server. We followed the step by step instructions, but are never prompted / were never prompted when the switch booted up to perform the following task:
The bootup script runs the configuration wizard, which prompts you for basic configuration input: (Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]: ). To configure Day0 settings using the Web UI, do not enter a response.

Are you able to connect to it using a console cable and the CLI?

Yes - We are just playing around with it at the moment and it does support both Console and WebGui which can be viewed at the same time.

I accessed as follows: 1. connect me through CLI
2. Use the CLI wizard, where Request, password, secret password, user, device ip 192.168.1.1 (Assign me, can be anyone) and save changes.
3.Connect my PC through the ehternet cable
4. Open browser enter ip 192.168.1.1 Enter the username and password that you previously set by CLI. 5.In this way I could access.

Is there a platform yet from cisco to manage all cisco switches that have a web gui enable in one section rather than saving each IP? I know meraki has something coming into play with cisco gear, but that is down the line. Or is there a way to give users access to only change port vlans and not be able to edit anything else within the gui?

Hi
Platform to manage switch is DNAC.
Allow user to have selective access to a device you need to use TACACS server.
The level of granulaity depends on the switch capavility. Need to be tested.
