Catalyst 9400 : %IOMD-2-POE_RW_FAIL message

Hello,

On a brand new catalyst 9407 chassis running the IOS XE version 16.12.02 I have the following message:

"May 25 14:23:16.217: %IOMD-2-POE_RW_FAIL: Chassis 1 R0/0: iomd: POE read/write to HW failed on Slot 6 Subslot 0.POE functionality will not continue to work on this LC -Traceback= 1#843caac84d41a018e7813868a21e26e1 errmsg:7FBF92A63000+A80 iomd_ngmod:7FBF9FFA7000+13BB7 iomd_ngmod:7FBF9FFA7000+147BE iomd_ngmod:7FBF9FFA7000+14C09 ether_im:7FBF9E676000+74F05 ether_im:7FBF9E676000+7751E ether_im:7FBF9E676000+77941 ether_im:7FBF9E676000+78825 infra:7FBF93D60000+BE0D evlib:7FBF93539000+905A evlib:7FBF93539000+997C :555FAD810000+65894 :555FAD810000+65664"

Except polluting the logs, I didn't notice any bad side effect.

I didn't find any KB about this issue.

Has someone already met this issue?

Thank you for your help.

Emmanuel

The faulty module was replaced and the new one works properly for one year.

Open a ticket to Cisco TAC and ask for a RMA.

Hi tlaalem1,

From the Logs it looks like POE wont work on the module 6. Do you have any POE devices connected on module 6?

we're running version 16.12.04.. I'll try power cycling the switch but I do
have an RMA ready for the module replacement

you can do the test, or RMA and upgrade to latest version.
