Catalyst 9500-40X - need different license

Hello community, 

we got 2x catalyst 9500-40X switches with network-essentials license.

With this license I am not able to configure stackwise-virtual and we decided to change the licence to network-advantage. 

The price given from reseller was almost the same as both switches... it doesn't make sense to be this expensive so I am wondering is it possible to change the license directly from Cisco or do you have better idea?

Cisco StackWise Virtual configuration commands will be recognised only on a switch running Network Advantage license. The configuration commands will not be recognised on a Network Essentials license.

I am sure you can buy License directly i guess, but going via partner help you any technical config help. they get better price i guess.

Hi,

The price for the license upgrade is not cheap at all. That is one way Cisco has learned to make money.

Anyway, if you are purchasing a lot from Cisco, you have the leverage to negotiate a better discount with the partner, if not you simply get the standard discount.
