Hi, I'm fairly new to Cisco. I came across a problem in a production network that I'm currently strugling with.
The site has:
Uc520 Router
Catalyst Express 500 Switches
Catalyst Express 500G Switches
I have been using CCA to setup smartports after a power outage which resetted the Vlan's
The Catalyst Express 500's Ip adress was accedentally assigned to the wrong vlan. It is now in Vlan10 which uses 192.168.1... range adresses and has an ip adress of 192.168.10.6
I have tried to connect to it using SSH, Telnet by connecting a computer to one of the switch ports. I have tried manually connecting to it using the admin button on the switch using various computers but the green conncetion light and admin light just keep flashing forever and eventually turns amber.
I have reset the switch by removing it's power. This made it discoverable as a neighbour in CCA but when I try to add it to the community it simply says the host is unreachable.
In addition to this I have used ping - success
Tracerout which shows destination unreachable
Strange thing is that the IP phones plugged in to this switch still have dial capabillity.
I don't have a console cable but this seems as the next logical move to gain access to the switch and reset it.
If you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated

Does the 500 realy have a console cable ? I do not think so...
I would start with resetting the switch and go from there.

Wow! Than you very much. I have been crawling the web to find out how to do this and spent most of today looking for an answer!
One quick question - my IP phones now show that they are not assigned to a voice vlan. I have assigned smartports to th ports on this device that have phones attached as phone and selected th cisco-voice vlan and vlan 1 for the computer use.
