Catalyst SVI vs Physical Bandwidth

Dear All,

I have some questions regarding the SVI Bandwidth, I have implemented Cisco 3650 configured 2 ports 10Gbps etherchannel and assigned as trunk port connect to core switch. We configured VLAN 221 as inter-connect VLAN. Then I use connect “show interface Vlan 221” and the bandwidth shown only 1 Gbps. What is the difference between Interface VLAN bandwidth vs the physical interface bandwidth? Which one use for transfer data?

The default for SVIs is 1Gbps but that should not affect the amount of traffic through the physical 10Gbps interfaces. 

 

It could however affect monitoring tools and/or routing protocols, QOS etc. which use bandwidth in their calculations so if possible you may want to modify the SVI bandwidth.
