CBS350 static route doesn't show on cli

Hey Y'all,

I'm configuring a new CBS350 and am just trying to add static routes via the command line, using the usb console.  I set the route, but 'show ip route' doesn't show it:

cisco-peach(config)#ip route 192.168.13.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.7.5 metric 2
cisco-peach(config)#exit
cisco-peach#show ip route
Maximum Parallel Paths: 1 (1 after reset)
IP Forwarding: enabled
Codes: > - best, C - connected, S - static

C 192.168.99.0/24 is directly connected, vlan 99
cisco-peach#

When I go to the gui, I can see the route.  (see image attached)

I'm a noob to the cli and would appreciate any advise.

Thanks!

Hi,

please post the config of the router.

you are pointing to next-hop of 192.168.7.5 for network 192.168.13.0 -

In order for the static route to show in routing table the IP address to which you point as next-hop (192.168.7.5 in this case) should be in the same network as one of the interfaces of your router, that interface should be in up state.
I guess that's not the case right now?

All interfaces are down because I'm accessing via the usb console.  Does an interface with an associated ip have to be plugged in to set static routes?  Or would I need to bring it up from cli?

As I mentioned above, the interface should be in the status up (gi2 in this case) from your output we can see that Link Status is Down (Link State = Down for Gi2)

Is a network cable currently connected to Port Gi2?

Ok, I plugged my laptop into gi2 and can see the route now!  So, I guess the 'show ip route' command only shows routes that are active... but the gui showed it either way?

C 192.168.7.0/24 is directly connected, vlan 7
S 192.168.13.0/24 [1/2] via 192.168.7.5, 03:21:35, vlan 7

Now I'm cooking with grease.     I unplugged, then added 'static' to my command and voila!  There's the route. Just the learning curve of a noob.   Thanks tons pman!!

cisco-peach#show ip route static

I 192.168.13.0/24 [1/2] via 192.168.7.5

Excellent!
I was glad to help!
