CCT Entry Level Questions

Hello,

I am interested in getting into Routing and Switching to expand work. I currently work in CCTV and EAS for retail security, but I want to expand into networks and switches more and I want to know if there is anything that I should have knowledge of before I begin any E-Learning for CCT?

I have some experience with messing around with my home routers, and making a "mini-network' with other brand network switches, but not with Cisco. For my work I can usually identify problems with the networks, but unable to fix them due to how the support structure is setup.

Any information and advice would be great!

Hello,

I would say the most important thing is to get hands-on experience, as much as you can. If you have a few hundred dollars to spend, get a CCNA kit on Ebay (search for 'CISCO CCENT CCNA HOME LAB KIT' or something similar).

Of course another good place to learn is this very forum. Try and answer questions, read what others post, and google, a lot !
