Hi,

I have some basic doubts. On "Chasis based" switches where are different memory locations.

Is bootflash, NVRAM on the chasis itself?

When we access disk0, or slot 0 which memory it refers to most likely PCMCIA cards on Sup engine. ( I may be wrong).

Where is operatin system stored.( or we can have multiple copies in swicth)

Any link on cisco.com?

Thanks in advance

Bootflash is actually on the supervisor engine.

Disk0 or slot0 does indeed refer to an external PCMCIA card used in the slot0 of the supervisor. Note the Sup usually has 2 slots so you can have disk1 and slot1.

Operating system is stored in either bootflash or external card. The OS can be too big for bootflash and so that is why it is stored on PCMCIA card.
