Cisco 1721 wan routing and inter-vlan routing

Hello,

can anyone tell me if this is possible;

I have a Cisco 1721 with a WIC-1enet card which I want to connect to my cable modem to allow connection to the outside world.

is it possible to get this router to do inter-vlan routing for 4 or 5 vlans and also provice routes to the internet by the WIC-1Enet card?

I tried to do this on a 2620XM using both fastethernet ports but had little success but at the time I had a PIX501 managing the internet connection and also acting as a DHCP server giving the 2nd interface on the 2620 router an ip by DHCP whist the sub-interfaces on the fastethernet0/0, so fa 0/0.1 etc were doing the vlan routing on a trunk port set up for dot1q encap. connected to 2x 3500 switches.

is it at all possible to set up different IP address pools on the 1721 if you can set it up as a DHCP server to give out different ranges of ip addresses for the vlans I wish to set up?

I'm sorry if these questions sound a bit silly....

Joe,

This platform does supports intervlan routing with max of 16 vlans and also supports setting up dhcp pools for multiple vlans. Refer to URL that lists the supported features as well on this platform.

Joe, if you find this post useful, please rate it.
