Hi,

What would happen if you pulled out the CF card and ideally all the installed network modules (WICs, NMs, SMs)? With the CF card removed, the router should stop in the ROMMON mode. Removing the installed interface cards, network modules and service modules should make sure that if any of these extension modules is damaged in some way, it does not interfere with the booting of the device.

If the device does not boot into ROMMON even with all extension modules and CF card removed then the router itself is most probably faulty and will require replacement.

Best regards,
Peter

Thanks Peter for showing your concerns.

Well this router has been designed specially for tactical purposes and is sealed all the way.

I am unable to remove the seals and all the stuff.

Well is there any other solution for it?

Thanks

Any chance it might react to the break sequence?

lulian Vaideanu,

Well Router is stuck to above mentioned state and doesn't respond to any break sequence.

Tried hard to put router in rommon mode but no vail.

Thanks

Hi,

I am afraid we do not have much choices left. I have some more sugestions but all of this is just a blind shot.

  1. The router has both a classic RJ-45 console port, and a USB serial console port. Have you tried accessing the device through both of them? Be aware that only one of them can be connected and used at a time. Give the router ample time before concluding that the console connection is "stuck".
  2. With each of these console ports, have you tried using all possible console speeds in your terminal software, that is, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200?

If none of this works then I am afraid that there must be some kind of hardware damage. If you are not authorized to remove the anti-tamper seals then your options end here.

Best regards,
Peter

Thanks A lot Pete,

well as there is only RJ45 console port through which you can access the terminal.

As for as second I option is concerned, I will give it try, haven't tried the second option for baud rate will go for it.

Do I only need to change the baud rate or other parameters as well.

Thanks

Hello,

well as there is only RJ45 console port through which you can access the terminal.

I do not think so - the 2951 certainly has a micro-USB port that acts like a USB serial dongle and that is equivalent to a console connection:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/2900/hardware/installation/guide/Hardware_Installation_Guide/Install_Connect.html#pgfId-1086294

Perhaps it was sealed but it still must be there. The USB driver can be downloaded here:

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282774230&softwareid=282855122&release=3.1

Do I only need to change the baud rate or other parameters as well.

Keep the other parameters unchanged at:

  • 8 data bits
  • No parity bit
  • 1 stop bit
  • None flow control

Best regards,
Peter

Thanks Peter,

Well I know there are two console ports one is RJ45 and other is USB, as I told you earlier this router has been designed only for tactical purposes so only RJ45 console port is available.

Thanks
