Hi,
I have a Cisco 2960 switch with 24 ethernet ports and 2 fiber optic SFP transceivers. These fiber optic cables from the cisco switch are connected to a remote media converter(Fiber optic to Ethernet).
My question: If we use 2 different manufacturers of switches/media converter, will there be a communication problem?? Or is it ok unless the protocol are the same.
On one end we use Cisco 2960 switch and on the other end we use either WESTERMO or HIRSCHMANN or MOXA (Fiberoptic to Ethernet converters)
Please advice

I think as long as , it understands the physical layer & Data Link layer protocol..it should be fine.
But , really you need test it , if you don't have any document for this.

Should not be a concern as long as they are standards compatible. Are you seeing anything specific?
