Cisco 2960L / service unsupported-transceiver

Hello All,

My telecom operator give us for Internet access by fiber some Sercomm GPON SFP model.

Professionally, when used on 2960X (or 2960XR), no problem to use "service unsupported-transceiver" command and get the GPON SFP working.

Personally, at home, I'm using a 2960L (less budget ;), but with the same release version "15.2.5E2", this command doesn't work.

Is there something to do to get this work ? (I've try version 15.2.5, 15.2.6, 15.2.7 with no success :( )

have you pasted that command in config t mode :

service unsupported-transceiver  <<-- do you see any errors - hidden command and it takes it try and let us know.

or other option below :

no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid

Yes, I was in conf t mode :
sw-home1(config)#service unsupported-transceiver
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

The command "no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid" works, but the SFP is not recognized :

Post the complete output to the command "sh version".
I suspect the command won't work if the switch is "LAN Lite".

So on the orginal post you mentioned you tried all the versions (all are same ) - is this possible to upgrade to high level code feature to test ?

I've get an ISR G2 Temp Data from Licence Portal for my switch.

Is this switch could be upgraded to Lan Base ?

There is no "license install" command :/

Or maybe I misunderstood your request

2960 licenses are fixed and cannot be changed.

Check e-bay for used GLC-SX-MM.  They're not that expensive any more.

My problem is not the manufacturer or the price.
This SFP is provided by my telecom operator because this SFP is encoded with an AES key to access the encrypted GPON network.

Other time, I only buy Cisco SFP.

I will buy another small switch or a SFP-to-Ethernet convertor.

The Cisco-branded GLC-SX-MM (not GLC-SX-MMD) are cheap in the gray market (like e-bay).

Don't take the risk of getting non-Cisco branded ones.

yes if the SFP not cisco one. again this is in generic command, if that is not working, you need to provide more information.
