Hi,
We are facing issue with one of the module installed on cico 4506 swicth. All of a sudden cisco phones connected to that module went down and the messages logged on the console.
C4K_CHASSIS-5-POERESTARTED: Poe restarted on slot 5 (count=1)
2w3d: %C4K_SWITCHMANAGER-4-S2WERRORREPORT: (Suppressed 11 times)PimEthAutoNeg: S2w Read/Write Error for port Fa5/34.
2w3d: %C4K_SWITCHMANAGER-4-S2WERRORREPORT: (Suppressed 15 times)PimEthAutoNeg: S2w Read/Write Error for port Fa5/18.
2w3d: %C4K_SWITCHMANAGER-4-S2WERRORREPORT: (Suppressed 15 times)PimEthAutoNeg: S2w Read/Write Error for port Fa5/42.
Also the module status is showing s orange instead of green.
Module 1 Status Led Color : Green
Module 2 Status Led Color : Green PoE Led Color : Green
Module 3 Status Led Color : Green PoE Led Color : Green
Module 4 Status Led Color : Green PoE Led Color : Green
Module 5 Status Led Color : Green PoE Led Color : Orange
Module 6 Status Led Color : Green PoE Led Color : Green
IOS: cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-54.SG1.bin
Model : WS-C4506-E
Affected module model :
NAME: "Linecard(slot 5)", DESCR: "10/100BaseTX (RJ45)V with 48 10/100 baseT voice power ports (Cisco/IEEE)"
PID: WS-X4248-RJ45V , VID: V09 ,
How do i identify whether the problem is with module or something else?
Thanks,
Sridhar

Hi Sridhar,
This might be a problem with the board itself. To confirm, can you provide the following output:
sh platform chassis int fa5/34

Sridhar,
Can you also provide the s/n of the affected linecard.
Thanks

Hi Sridhar,
Did you try resetting the card? If yes, has the POE functionality been restored?
09-27-2011 09:10 AM
How to reset the affected line card? will there be any impact on the other line cards?

Hi Sridhar,
The command in your case would be hw-module slot 5 reset. It shouldn't cause any impact on other linecards ideally. To be on the safer side, you could opt to do it during a window.

thx Kapil. will do it on a weekend.

I think i found the error details on this one.
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-1660
I just had the same issue and was doing some research. Came across this thread and thought i would update you guys. I tried reseating my module and it didnt help.
Symptoms:
On bootup i get these two errors
%C4K_CHASSIS-5-PORTSPOERESTARTED: Poe restarted for interfaces on slot 4 (count=1)
%C4K_SWITCHMANAGER-4-S2WERRORREPORT: (Suppressed 7 times)PimEthAutoNeg: S2w Read/Write Error for port
Then on "show env status" command:
PoE Led Color : Orange
Its pretty odd because the show module output says the diags passed but i guess the PoE diags are failing and not triggering the overall status to fail. Either way reseating the blade didnt help and im replacing the module. Thought you might want to know.
Cheers,

Hi,
Even we too replaced the faulty modules. Before replacing we have disabled the POE on the module so that we can use that for desktops.
Thx,
Sridhar
