Cisco 6880 problem with GLC

Hello all,

I have a 6880 with 152-1.SY1a.bin and it seems to have a problem recognizing GLC.

First I inserted GTL-T and it didn´t recognized them (ports where down) and did an IOS upgrade and it started to recognize all GLC-T and all was good.

Now I have inserted several GLC-SX-MMD and 6880 says that:

sfp_send_cmd_to_scc: NVRAM_2_QUACK_failed
sfp_send_read_cmd_to_scc: NVRAM_2_QUACK_failed
*Apr 8 15:26:58.340: %SMC-SW1-2-BAD_ID_HW: Failed Identification Test in 21/1/14 [1/0]

SFP are Cisco and they work fine in several other Cisco equipments. I did some reading and it looks like there is a problem in some IOS version with OIR. If this is true, it was not the upgrade but the reboot that made GLC-T started to work.

I believe that a reboot woud solve the problem but I can not make rebbot each time I need to insert a new GLC

Can anyone help me? Anyone with the same problem?

Regards,

Joao.

P.S. - all is good with 10G SFP.

Hello,

I have a TAC case open for this. We have 15x 6880 switches in production and of those around 5 of them have had issues with the GLC-T SFPs. There are several similar bugs open for this, so far the only work around has been to reload the entire chassis. When we see this we've just been marking the port as bad pending reload, and move to a new slot. It's a ridiculous work around for a switch like this.
