Cisco 7710 VDC port allocation - N77-M348XP-23L

I have created a new VDC on my 7710 however when i try to allocate 8 ports to the VDC the switch is indicating i need to allocate 24 ports for the port-group.  Is this correct for the N77-M348XP-23L line card?

allocate interface Ethernet2/1-7
Entire port-group is not present in the command. Missing ports will be included automatically
Additional Interfaces Included are :
Ethernet2/8
Ethernet2/9
Ethernet2/10
Ethernet2/11
Ethernet2/12
Ethernet2/13
Ethernet2/14
Ethernet2/15
Ethernet2/16
Ethernet2/17
Ethernet2/18
Ethernet2/19
Ethernet2/20
Ethernet2/21
Ethernet2/22
Ethernet2/23
Ethernet2/24
Moving ports will cause all config associated to them in source vdc to be removed. Are you sure you want to move the ports (y/n)?

Thank you i reviewed the document but it seems to be for the 7k, my devices are 7710.  Even if i try to allocate a single interface it still indicates 24 ports are in the port-group. `

Hi,

Can you try 1,3, 5,7 or 2,4,6,8

HTH

See the below info. You will need to allocate them in ports of 24 with the linecard you have.

The Cisco Nexus 7700 Series M3 Ethernet modules have the following number of port groups and interfaces. VDC allocation is based on port group boundaries.

  • N77-M312CQ-26L—Has six ASICs, 6 port groups of 2x100G ASIC

  • N77-M324FQ-25L—Has four ASICs, 4 port groups of 6x40G ASIC.

  • N77-M348XP-23L—Has two ASICs, 2 port groups of 24x10G ASIC.
