Cisco 887 SVI/VLAN Question

Hi all,

I am looking at gathering information regarding Cisco's 887's, specifically the CISCO887-SEC-K9, but am struggling to get all the answers from the cisco datasheets - can anyone answer the questions below

1. 887's support up 8 VLANs, but does anyone know if I can create numerous SVI's to act as default gateways for devices (or are they just Layer 2 VLAN's used on the switch ports?). If not do they support routed ports with sub-interfaces instead?

2. It appears the 887's are geared towards ADSL2/2+ but are they backward compatible with standard ADSL lines in case ADSL2+ is not a service provider offering?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

G'day,

1. 887 supports 8 VLAN's meaning you can configure 8 logical "interface vlan[number] that are associated with the Layer2 VLAN. These logical interfaces can be configured with IP addresses to be the default gateways.

Reference:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/800/860-880-890/software/configuration/guide/vlanconf.html

2. 877 should be backward compatible with ADSL ITU G992.1. You can verify this through Table 7 - hardware specifications
