I have several Cisco 891 (no wireless) in my inventory and I'm seeing a common reoccurring problem. When the wan ports on a Cisco 891 are connected to other Cisco 891 wan ports or when connected to a KG-175d Taclane encryptor I get felonious readings. The show interface command tells me its up but my GRE tunnel is down and I cant ping the local interface. Doing a shut/no shut on the wan interface does nothing to restore the problem. The only way to snap the WAN port out of its weird state is to cycle the power. This isn't an acceptable answer for my customers. Any thoughts?

Hello,
Can you post exactly how these 891 models are connected? Did you check the cables?

The routers area connected back to back on their WAN GE0 ports using a shielded CAT-5 crossover cable. I have checked the cables. I have done all of the physical swapping possible.

Update IOS.
If still trouble, contact the TAC.

Hello. I have 3 of the 891 routers with the same error.
Sep 6 11:46:45.387: %PQII_PRO_FE-1-TXERR: GigabitEthernet0: Fatal transmit error. Restarting...
I have no sevice contact (smart net) but hardware is younger than three months.
Have the TAC solution for this problem or should I use warranty?
May be ther is a defective batch of 891 routers?
