cisco catalyst 3550 inline power

does anymore know if we can get the 3550 inline power to work POE on none cisco devices.. we have some polycom /snow phone and a few POE camera that I like to connect to these units. but no getting power to units .. I get

POWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ERR and etc.. any info would be great !

Depends on the end-devices. The 3550 can support Class 1 only.

Resurrecting an old post, this might help someone. Today I tried connecting a Cisco 9951 phone to my 3550 inline power switch and it just kept going up and down with lights flashing and phone didn't come up, this reminded me an old problem faced in 2007 when we deployed Cisco Aironet Lightweight Access Points with WLAN controller.

I used the below command under the interface and it worked, the cisco phone is powered up and I am going to configure it with CUCM now.

int fa0/xx

power inline delay shutdown 20 initial 25

You may want to tweak and test the timers but the above worked for me.

Four. Go here and look under "Table 3. PoE Classes".

Several workarounds. You can use 1:1 power injectors or you can use mid-span powered switch.

Ok. Looks likes the 3550 can support up to 15.0 PoE. Make sure your cable is terminated correctly. Another way to check is to plug the IP phone directly to the switch.

what kind of cable I used a standard cat5 and pluged in..? is there special PIN config ? when I plug the phone directry I see the light come on for a sec but goes off and the Interface goes up /down ?

I'm suspecting you have faulty patch cable. Have you tried other copper cabling?

yes brand new cable test and only 3 feed phone comes on for a few sec and goes off so does the LED on the link light on switch... I have tried 3 phones and 2 camra all the same.. yet when I plug in a cisco phone 7960 works fine..hmmmm
