Hi,
I'd like to know if it's possible to connect a fiber optic cable into the 3550 series L3 switch?
I'm assuming via SFP?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Can you provide the exact part number of the switch?
For the 3550 series, you usually use GIBC and not SFP for fiber connectivity.

Hi there,
The old cat3550's used GBICs not SFPs, but yes, with the correct optics you can connect a fibre cable to it.
cheers,
Seb.

The SN I got is CAT0812N4B8
And you're right, I realized that afterwards. Not sure where I can find a reliable GBIC for single mode fiber nowadays though. Seems most manufactures don't make them anymore.

Thank you for your response. I'm going to start searching for a GBIC for singlemode fiber

GBIC is very old, BUT You can most likely find then on Amazon or eBay for a very low price.
