Cisco Licence SLR, PLR

Hello,

I have a few questions about cisco's SLR and PLR licenses:

  1. What is the fundamental difference between SLR and PLR?
  2. If you choose to install a PLR, what is the procedure with Cisco?
  3. If we have PLRs on a network, do we necessarily have to have PLRs on spare equipment too?
  4. What is the procedure for replacing faulty equipment: must another PLR be installed on the spare equipment or can the PLR license which is on the defective equipment be transferred?
  5. As the equipment is in a closed environment, will Cisco ask to return the equipment to him to be sure that the equipment is not used locally to transfer the license to the equipment spare?

Thank you for your answers !

Regards

By saying that your equipment is in a closed environment are you saying that it has absolutely no access to the Internet? If that is the case my suggestion is to contact your Cisco rep or your vendor to discuss your specific situation. Some of our customers also have closed environments and they usually need to get the PLR license with the switch at the time of purchase. Again your Cisco reps would likely be the best POC for assistance.
