Cisco MDS 9K Series Password Reset / Copy Running-Config Error

Hi Cisco Forums Members,

I have a Cisco MDS 9K series director that was left in my possession. As the previous Admin left quite spitefully, I do not have admin access to the switch and attempted to reset it following the standard Cisco password recovery process below.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/storage-networking/mds-9000-series-multilayer-switches/29441-8.html

The problem I am facing is at the very last command, "copy running-config startup-config ", I get an error stating that "copy: cannot access file '/bootflash/running-config' . I wanted to make sure it had a running config to save so I tried running show running-config but only get a admin login prompt that does not accept the password I tried to set during the recovery steps. Any help is greatly appreciated!
