Is there an option to go with 3rd party direct cable to connect Cisco Nexus 5000 switch to HP Virtual Connect for 10gb connectivity. Both Cisco and HP have their proprietary direct cable, but wondering if there is a 3rd party cable to solve the issue. Going with separate 10gb Transeiver and connect them over multimode fiber is little expensive since each 10gb transceiver cost is around $3000.00 for both Cisco and HP.
Please advise

Abbas,
As far as I know, you cannot use any 3rd party cable. That will an unsupported configuration both by HP and Cisco. Typically customers didnot want to use the Cisco proprietry cables so we went ahead and certified/tested the HP direct attach cable with Nexus 5K and HP VC. You have to either use Cisco cable or HP certified cable to work this out. I am afarid there is no other option, unless you really want to try other vendor and play a bet to just run it anyways.
