Cisco Nexus 93180 pair using vPC software upgrade procedure

Hi there,

Is there a procedure for upgrading a pair of Cisco Nexus 93180YC-EX with vPC running so that each member in the pair takes over traffic while the other installs the new version?  Most of the hosts connected to each Nexus are connected to both switches using LACP-Active.

Upgrades are going from NXOS 7.0(3)I5(2) to NXOS 9.2(1).

Thanks in advance for the help.

As long as end device connected Dual Homed, North abound connection also multi homes and You have tested some failover scenrios as part of vPC testing.

Then you are good to go upgrade non service impact upgrade, vPC take care of submillisecond convergency.

refer new upgrade guide below :

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi
just to add your jumping quite high there between releases you may need an interim version to go to 9 from 7 , you may not be able to go direct in ISSU, you would want to make sure that the ISSU works between those versions or youll end up in a hard reboot

Make sure you run the compatibility checks when the new image is added to the switch ,if the compatibility checks pass the ISSU will work and keep everything up , if it fails and you go ahead it will hard reboot the switch

ISSU is a lot more stable in NX-OS than IOS and works quite well but make sure you follow every step in the ISSU upgrade section and all your prerequisites are in place

on each switch first run below when new image is in 9k to check if direct upgrade is possible
