Hi
That depends on design and the equipment you have in place as it can vary so much , usually the 10gbs servers go to 5ks and 1gbs servers go to fexes or the mgmt./drac ports of the 10gb servers connect to the fexes but can depend on what type of fex you have too as you may have full 10gb setup or mix of both
If you had only 1 GB Fexes 2248s you would want the servers in the 5k or 7ks direct to 10gb ports if there 10gb servers which most are now these days by standard
and also depends on the servers requirements too , some servers may not need line rate so they could be 10gb and still connect to a fex 2232/2332 which is 10gb ports too but at a ratio 3:1 while some NFS filers may need a 1:1 10gb ratio so would need to be direct to 5k or use a B22 Fex instead of standard 10gb 2332 fex as they might struggle
Its lot based on budget too and real estate available in your 5ks and 7k and balancing capacity and making sure not to over draw any of the fexes or 5ks they all have limitations and you should carefully read the data sheets before deploying or purchasing anything based on your network requirements , our setup and others I have seen generally designs go 2 x7ks maybe 4 x 5ks split across to the 7ks and anywhere up to 20-30 fexes on double vpc back to the 5ks , we tend to avoid connecting servers to the 7ks when possible and just use the 5ks and 2ks only
servers on 2ks as below screenshot can be set as VPC too on the nexus side and then on the server side just a standard PO , this is called enhanced vpc where server is duelled to 2x2ks and the 2ks are dual to the 5ks and nic teaming is down on the server too , this is the most resilient design in terms of the server and best for traffic LB
