Cisco Router 887 or 899 support subinterfaces? router on stick?

Hi there!

I have many places with a Routers 887 connect to Switchs 2960, and others places with Routers 899 connect to Switchs 2960, I've been try to do Vlan routing, because I need communicate vlans beetwen router and switch, I've tried with subinterfaces or routing on stick in my two Routers (899/887), someone know if the Routers suppor subinterfaces or routing on stick?

Regards!

You can still do "router on a stick" using SVIs.

Routers like the 897 have a Gige WAN port - and that supports sub-interfaces.  Pretty much any of the models with an Ethernet based WAN port can do sub-interfaces on that WAN port.

How interface is? I have this interfaces on my Router 887.

Cellular0 unassigned YES NVRAM up up
Cellular1 unassigned YES unset down down
Dialer0 unassigned YES IPCP up up --------------------------------> is this?
Ethernet0 unassigned YES NVRAM administratively down down
FastEthernet0 unassigned YES unset down down
FastEthernet1 unassigned YES unset down down
FastEthernet2 unassigned YES unset down down
FastEthernet3 unassigned YES unset up up
NVI0 unnasigned YES unset up up
Virtual-Access1 unassigned YES unset up up

and this on my Router 899

Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Prot ocol

The Cisco 887 does not have an Ethernet based WAN port, so wont support sub-interfaces.  You can still use SVI (interface vlan xxx) interfaces.

The Cisco 899 appears to have two Gigabit WAN interfaces, so I'm guessing they will be GIgabit8 and Gigabit9.  They should support having sub-interfaces.

The 887 doesn't support sub-interfaces on it's ethernet ports. You could always use one of the FastEthernet interfaces as a trunk to the switch with svi's instead of sub-interfaces.

Thanks, so, between my switch and router just I need create the same VLANs in my devices for communicate? I mean, what is the difference if I create on my devices the same VLANs and create int vlan with ip address, and just create VLANs without int vlan with ip address?

Also, my end users must have like as gateway the IP address of the int vlan of router?
