Hi,

Im trying to connect a Cisco SG200-50 and SG200-50P via Fiber Optic. We are using SM fiber between buildings, and 2 MGbic MGBBX1 Bidi. PAtch cord are also SM.

Both Switch mark the MGbic as present, interface stays DOwn. Where can i setup them so they can transmit data via de Optical FIber? or are the supposed to start transmiting when they are plugged?

Thanks

Hello

daft question but are you using the correct fibre mode towards the fibre riser?

If you are - have you-

1) checked is the signal light is coming through - BE VERY careful not to expose your eye to it

2) have you swap the end points at one end of the connection to make sure - RX-TX to TX-RX

3) are you using the correct SM SFP

Hi,

1)  I have checked at both end, and they are sending -9bdm and -6dbm.

2) There are bidi, theres no RX - TX ports, just a single rx-tx port.

3) The Fiber between buildings, the patch cord and the SFPs are all single Mode.

Im wondering if the are to close (The support up to 10kms, but i they are installed about 90Mtrs apart)

Or im missing some configuration on the GBICs ports.

Thanks for ur reply.
