Hello,

This is my first question on the community and also I'm a newbie on networking
I would like to know if someone can explain to me why when I do a show interfaces status command I get one port with a state link up but if I look on the mac address table for that interface, I do not get any mac address.

Thank you very much for the answers

Hi,

Welcome to the community!

What is connected to port gi12?  Can you ping the device first and than issue the "sh mac address-table" command again?

Hello,

it's a little complicated identify what is connected, due the network is little messy I'm trying to identify all the nodes on the net, so that's why I was looking ad the mac address first.

is there any way besides disconnecting the cable and wait to see who complains to see which is the attached device?
:D

Hi I see this was a few years ago.. did you ever determine the root cause of the missing MAC whilst the link was active?
