Anyone have any idea what the "TestQoS" function does on a Supervisor 720 card for a 6509? It says it's a minor error if it fails. We don't use QoS on the 6509, and I see the risk/reward ratio tipped more in the risk favor of replacing this SUP card due to the environment this 6509 is in.

Try resetting the module and see if the error goes away, if not. you may have to open a ticket with Cisco and possibly RMA the module.

We did that but no dice. Cisco sent us a new 720. Here's the problem: The 6509 is in a high-humidity environment. Whenever cables are bumped, let alone unplugged (as would be needed to replace the sup card since they cover the bay), servers start going down because the copper is corroded. It's an awful environment and we are moving out in the Fall but for now I can't do anything about it.
So basically, if the TestQoS is a non-issue, especially if we don't use QoS, I see replacing the SUP as more of a risk than a reward.

Dean,
I agree. If the error is not harming anything at this time, you can just wait until you move out of that environment.

So that test only matters if I have QoS policies applied on the switch right?

Not sure but there is a bug associated with this error message. A software upgrade could fix the problem.
