Hi all,
I'm having an interesting issue with the Cisco switches on our campus.
For context, we had a scheduled power outage at our site back in December, and when power was restored, we started seeing this issue. We have all our core equipment on a generator and did not lose power. No configuration changes happened according to our backups.
Our core switch is a Ruckus ICX7650-48F. After power was restored, I could not ssh into any Cisco switch directly connected to the core. Any HP/Aruba device directly connected works with SSH and ping. The same is true for any cisco device downstream from an HP/Aruba. Our management vlan is broken between the Ruckus and Ciscos, but I need help finding where.
Although this is happening, everything around the site is running fine from an operational standpoint. We have wireless and all ethernet working.
We have a Cisco 3650 directly below the core in the rack that I've been troubleshooting. When I checked spanning tree on it, I noticed a VLAN ID mismatch with two different VLANs. Our management VLAN 4 and the Trunk VLAN 666. Nothing has changed in the configuration, and I've double-checked that there isn't a mismatch like it says. I get this error with all Cisco switches.
Below is an attachment with config and spaning-tree results from both the Ruckus and Cisco. If you need more let me know and I'll post it as well.
Thank you!

Hi,
Looking at the attachment you posted, it appears that the Cisco switch is running the default STP, which is PVST+. So, could it be a mismatch of STP protocols between Cisco and Ruckus?

Hi Reza,
Thank you for the reply! According to their documentation, Ruckus automatically detects PVST+ BPDUs and enables support for the BPDUs once detected. The Cisco mode is currently set to spanning-tree mode pvst. So I think that they should be working fine. All other vlans are working as well.

I was wrong about what I said in my other reply. When I check PVST on the Ruckus with show span pvst-mode, I get the message "PVST is suppressed when single spanning tree is enabled"
So I think you may be onto something.

Hi,
I am not familiar with Ruckus switches at all, but according to the below post, PVST+ is not compatible with Ruckus, and you would need to run a different protocol to make the 2 work together.

Ruckus documentation says it does so I'm a little confused. I don't understand why it would stop working after years of being fine. I'll keep digging around. Appreciate the help!

I agree with you that this is a strange issue because everything was working before the power testing, especially since the switches did not even go down. Is there anything on the logs after the power test indicating anything?

Hello,
on a side note, the Ruckus documentation also states that you have to enable dual mode support:

Hi Georg,
Thank you for reaching out. This is true if you are using 08.0.60 as the software version. We are using 08.0.90 and they got rid of the dual mode command since that time. If you try and enter it into the switch it tells you that it is depreciated.
