Cisco WS-C2960X-48TS-L to HP-2530-24G trunk port not working.

Hello team,

We are struggling with our Cisco WS-C2960X-48TS-L and HP-2530-24G.
HP-2530-24G having four SFP 25-28.
We connected 2960X Port 51 to HP-2530's port 27.
On Cisco switch we configured multiple VLANs i.e. VLAN 10,20,30,60,80.
On HP switch we need only two VLANs 30 and 80, so we configured accordingly, port 27 is tagged under both VLANs.
Cisco port 51 is an access port and we passed vlan 30 on that port, everything working well in this scenario.

But as per our requirement we need VLAN 80 too on HP switch, so the issue is whenever we convert Cisco port 51 to trunk , the link between cisco and HP drops, we lose access to HP switch and devices behind that switch.

can someone help on this ?
Thanks

Hello @neeraj_dabas ,

from the HP GUI picture I see management VLAN is set to None

I would try to change it to Vlan 30

Hope to help

Giuseppe

@neeraj_dabas

Your test with the access port in VLAN 30 on the CISCO switch was invalid because of your VLAN set up. Instead of VLAN 30, VLAN 1 was used on the HP switch.

It looks to me that your HP switch supports only the General port mode in the VLAN configuration. When using the General port mode, it is very important to be aware of the Port VLAN ID (PVID). If PVIDs are not set up correctly, it is not going to work.

On your HP switch, if you want to have an access port in VLAN 80, it is not enough to make that port untagged in VLAN 80. You also need to set up its PVID to 80. And, do not forget to remove it from VLAN 1 or you may get false positive test results. Similarly, if you set up an access port in VLAN 30, make that port UNTAGGED in VLAN 30, set its PVID to 30 and remove it from VLAN 1.

You can keep Port 27 configured as it is.

Good luck!
