Hello KS,
I think both are the same and your thinking is correct for Q1 (the same), however, with CISCO2911-SEC/K9 you will get a security feature set (via license) PAK.
Q3 This is the only difference I can see - they are both IP BASE but capable of security features. They are only turned on when license is applied.
Q2 I'm not sure which IOS version is applied from factory.
Cisco 2911 Security Bundle w/SEC license PAK (The only difference is this)
Cisco 2911 with 3 onboard GE, 4 EHWIC slots, 2 DSP slots, 1 ISM slot, 256MB CF default, 512MB DRAM default, IP Base
• Embedded hardware encryption acceleration is enhanced to provide higher scalability, which combined with an optional Cisco IOS Security license, enables WAN link security and VPN services (IPSec acceleration).
• The onboard encryption hardware replaces and outperforms the advanced integration modules (AIMs) of previous generations.
But in any case you can get SL-29-SEC-K9 which is the same security license.

Thanks Bilal,
you said that "IP BASE" support security features after taking licenses for it.
But Cisco already provided different different IOS as per functionality like as
IP SERVICES, IP SECURITY, ADVANCED SECURITY, etc.
Second thing, you talking about which kind of Licenses and how can i install in cisco Router for IOS,
I am listening this thing first time.
It is very difficult to find out exact information about Cisco product and services.

Hello KS - its a bit confusing I know. Cisco have changed the way they do IOS and feature sets. They've implemented a licensing model.
So in simple terms, some new IOS images (these days most of them) come as "universal images" which support all features, but only enabled via a license; rather than IOS images that is IP SERVICES or ADV IP SERVICES etc....
With regards to the 2911 and the 2900 series platform specifically, the universal image is an "IP Base" image but capable of the other features, please see this link, it explains better than what I could probably do :-)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps10616/white_paper_c11_556985.html#wp9000807
So the license is just a file "XXXXXXXXX.lic". When you purchase the CISCO2911-SEC/K9 or the license itself "SL-29-SEC-K9" you get something called a PAK.
With this PAK you need to go to www.cisco.com/go/license to register this PAK and download your license.
Once you have your license you will need to tftp it on to flash. And then install the license on the router. The instructions for this is in the link I have provided in this post.
I agree, its sometimes difficult to get the precise information.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Please find this link.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps8802/ps5460/product_bulletin_c25-557278.html
New Cisco 2911 router usually bundles IOS 15.x version. According to this link, you can upgrade IP base to Security for supporting IPSec, SSLVPN...etc
Hope it can help.
