Jamil,

You shouldn't lose connection to the switch...

I don't have the "all" argument though, so do you mean "clear arp" and hit enter? If so, you'll be fine...

Hi Jblakly

i mean lose  connection to servers connected to switch

when we need to  clear the arp table?i mean the situations

thanks

Any host that needs the address again will send another arp request. The table fills very fast. I've never had a complaint from someone when I've cleared the arp table. I've cleared it during the day for when our Systems group moves a server to another port, etc. The arp table/mac address is on an old port, so clearing that out would allow the switch to rediscover the server on the correct port.

Hi ,

I have used the same "clear arp" when one of the additonal IPs from one of the Web Servers were moved to a different Web Server. It saves quite a lot of time ! Or may be you can put a ping to some other IP in the LAN and the new ARP entry will get updated on the ARP table instantly !
