Hi,

Clients are getting automatic privated ip address instead of ip address from the dhcp.sometime microsoft dhcp server shows bad ip address .

This started to happen when we replaced old switch with new 3850 switch where ip device tracking enabled .

How can i solve the issue .And how can i know the  reason behind the problem . This is not happening with all the clients .

Please help

Thank you

sbt,

What 3850 IOS version you are using ?? if you disabled ip device tracking feature inside you switch dose it solve this issue ??

Hi,

cannot disable this feature cause of dot1x authentication enabled

Thank you

Hi,

you didnt told me about the version. anyway, if you run this command ip device tracking max ? under gig ethernet port level , what you got ?? (( the number of maximum devices from 1 - 10 OR from 0 - 65535 ))

Hi,

sh ip device tracking all
Global IP Device Tracking for clients = Enabled
Global IP Device Tracking Probe Count = 3
Global IP Device Tracking Probe Interval = 30
Global IP Device Tracking Probe Delay Interval =

ip device tracking probe count 3
ip device tracking probe interval 30
ip device tracking probe use-svi
ip device tracking probe delay 0
ip device tracking trace-buffer
ip device tracking

Switch model :3850

but it happens regardless of model

Thank you

support sbt,

your issue belong to ARP " feature ". it seems to be a known issue (bug) and the current workarounds are the followings. Depending on the switch model and version, hopefully one of the options should work for you.

On switch interface,
Option1- enter "ip device tracking probe delay 10"
Option2- enter "ip device tracking max 0"
Option3- enter "nmsp attach suppress"

Let us know how its going with you...
