Configuration C9300-24T With C9300-NM-8X module

Hi,

I have a question about the Configuration of the C9300-NM-8X module. When I look at the configuration, I see this:

interface GigabitEthernet2/1/1
!
interface GigabitEthernet2/1/2
!
interface GigabitEthernet2/1/3
!
interface GigabitEthernet2/1/4
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/1
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/2
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/3
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/4
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/5
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/6
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/7
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/8
!
interface FortyGigabitEthernet2/1/1
!
interface FortyGigabitEthernet2/1/2
!
interface TwentyFiveGigE2/1/1
!
interface TwentyFiveGigE2/1/2

  • My question is how does this configuration map on the physical ports?
  • Is Gi2/1/1, Ten2/1/1, For2/1/1 and Twe2/1/1 all the same physical port?
  • If they are all the same why are there different amounts of Gi, Ten, For and Twe ports? And what happens if I have a different configuration under each one of those headings?

Thank you for your help in understanding this.

Hello @JJjat256 ,

quoting from the cisco documentation:

C9300-NM-8X Module

All ports in the C9300-NM-8X module default to 10 G and should be configured as TenGigabitEthernet1/1/1 through TenGigabitEthernet1/1/8, even when you are operating them as 1 G using SFP.

I presume the output of the ports is from a stack environment and according to the documentation you should configure the TenGigabitEthernet2/1/1 to TenGigabitEthernet2/1/8 ports.

Here is the link to the documentation: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst9300/hardware/install/b_c9300_hig/Installing-a-network-module.html#reference_1313295B1F364ECEA18A305B21908F00

Hope this helps.
