We are running with 4506 Switch, the power down activity was scheduled due to maintenance, however, when we powered ON all the devices, the configuration of the swtich was gone, it came as if it was a new Switch with "Switch>" prompt, the configuration register value set is 0x2101, every week we take the backup of the switch.

Kindly suggest.

Hi,

configuration register value set 0x2101 means booting to the bootstrap, see http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps133/products_tech_note09186a008022493f.shtml

So you could try booting the system manually using the boot command in the bootstrap prompt, see the

"Understanding the Supervisor Engine Boot Configuration " and "ROM Monitor" section of

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/53SG/configuration/supcfg.html#wp1021866

and fix the register values after booted.

Hi Navinder,

As suggested by Milan change the setting of 4500 booting sequence as per the link and restore the backup which you have taken into 4500 switch.

Check out the below link for restoration of backup hope to help !!
