Need Help

Router IP is 172.171.8.1/24

Core switch Vlan1 ip is 172.141.0.2/16

                     Vlan 2 is 172.171.8.2/24

& i have one  Server and server ip is 172.171.8.4/24

My requirement is

1-Those are connected to my LAN Network (172.141.0.2) and server should be communicate.

In my network all users are communicated with server as well outside network

and working fine

but my server is not communicating with Router(172.171.8.1/24)

I have done

1-Create valn 1 & Vlan 2 and assign ip also

2-Port no 1 & 2 are access to vlan 2

3-Default route done (ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.171.8.1)

4-Default gateway of Core switch is 172.171.8.1

5-Router interface F0/0 is connected with Core switch port no 1 and server is connected to port no 2

Not my server is not communicate with Router but all user are communicate with server.

So please solve the problem

Hello Murari,

I need the below information in order  to dig into deeper.

1. Have you configured the Port on the switch going to the Server with proper Script?

2. Where did the L3 of the Server reside?

3. Also have you done ping test for L3 of the server to the Server IP?

Hi Murari, 

can you check firewall settings of your server it might be blocking icmp to router ip.

check sh mac-address-table command in your l3 switches you should see both router and server mac address here 

check the ' sh arp' in router, you should see your server ip arp details here if not clear arp and try ping from server.

Sir 

1- this is my Linux server.

2-From switch its pinging and its ping to my LAN gateway also.

3-  I tried all command but not showing mac also

3- When you do "Sh ip arp" you need to see the mac-address of the server, if you couldn't then there must be a L2/L3 issue before anything else.

Can you describe your case more precisely for better understanding.

Dear sir,

My server is mail server.

The problem was solved today.

I changed the ip of mail server 172.171.8.4 to 172.171.8.10 and it is working.

sir tell me one things

can we configure like that

The sever ip should work only that specific switch.

When i use another switch at that time that ip will not work but my old switch is damaged so i changed  to another switch.

now 

new ip 172.171.8.10 working fine with new switch.

3-ya i tried  to ping from switch to Linux sever its pinging.
