have a 3825 router having HWIC-8A async card, and want to cnfigure that
for terminal server connectivity. I believe it will have different
config to NM-16A module config. any advice please.

It has been a while since I have used the async interfaces on a 25xx series device. I have used the async mod on a 2600 and aside from setting baud rate, parity, etc.
