Connect a server with a multi vlan port to a switch

Hi,

I want to connect a server to a switch. The server should send traffic in multiple VLANs to the switch. The switchport is trunk. 

My question is where should the packets be get tagged with the VLAN (since the switchport is trunk)?? does the switch tag the packet according to the source IP? or do i have to tag the packet on the server?

Hello,

If the server is going to have addresses in multiple vlans, the server will have to tag the traffic with the right vlan tag that way we know which vlan the traffic belongs to. As you have done, the switchport configuration will need to be trunk and allow the vlan tags you need from the server.
