Connect multiple devices with same IP and specific VLAN to one PC

Hello there,

I'm new to this topic and I'm searching for the last days for a solution and before buying a router I wanted to make sure that my understanding is correct.

Task:

I have x-amounts of customer devices which all have the same hard coded IP and to which I have to connect in the correct VLAN. I want to sent packages from the PC to the devices and back. The sending will be done via a tool which will request the IP of all connected devices in the predefined network (e.g. 192.168.10.xxx / VLAN 42). Additional Info: The setup is a closed network and will not be connected to any other network.

My understanding:

I would be able to get a Router with NAT and VRF functionality. Then I configure the router with virtual routers so my PC sees for example 5 different IPs to which I then would sent my packages. So I only have to set up my tooling to check the static IPs I configured for the virtual Routers.

Questions:

1. Is this understanding of virtual Router correct or am I totally wrong (as I'm new to the topic this would be an option :D)?

2. Which router would be the best to test my idea in a test setup (3 to 6 devices + PC)?

3. Does the VLAN requirement interfere in any way with the virtual routers?

Hope the question is not to wild, I'm looking forward for some answers and to dive deeper into these topics.

as per the diagram, VRF is the solution for you.
