i have router and set ip as 10.5.6.12, then i configure a switch port with ip as 10.5.6.10, on that same switch pc is connected, then i set ip as 10.5.6.100, my query is i am not able to ping from pc to the switch port(ip is 10.5.6.10). Please help this is little bit urgent.
My switch is cisco 3850

Hi,
There are many possibilities and the root cause for this issue. May IP routing is not enabled on your switch, may switch port is not configured correctly etc.
Please share your switch configuration and desktop IP details including gateway and subnet.

While a full config will be helpful and might be required to identify certain error conditions, I believe that the output of show interface status and perhaps show ip interface brief from the switch would be good place to start. We will want to verify that the PC access port is up, what vlan it is in, does an SVI for that vlan exist on the switch, does the SVI for that vlan have the expected IP address.It might also be helpful to have the output of show arp (or maybe show ip arp depending on platform) from the switch.
