After you change the speed, issue

sh line con 0

you should see something like this:

Modem state: Ready

Special Chars: Escape  Hold  Stop  Start  Disconnect  Activation

Hi
can u check the config register if it us set correctly

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

Hi Everyone,

I had to go to ROM ON mode and config this command set baud rate 9600

After doing this i reset the switch and then console took 9600 baud rate.

Last time during some password recovery i  changed the console speed  in ROMON  to 11500.

Thanks everyone fr help

Regards

MAhesh

I have a 3750-E and the fix was a bit different.  Just posting this in case anyone else has the same problem.

1) Press and hold the "mode" button while reconnecting power.  Wait until you see orange light twice, then release

2) At the "switch:" prompt, enter these commands

set BAUD 9600

reset

The console setting will be set back to 9600 until the switch boots the config, at which point it will switch back to 115200.  At that point, re-connect at 115200, the enter config mode and do this:

line con 0

speed 9600

Then reconnect back at 9600, and save config:

exit

wr mem

That is the only way I was able to change the baud rate back to 9600.

How do I  go to ROM ON on a cisco switch 2960-s?
